An Expert NVF Perspective on the Development of Scientific Talent at the SCI–PO 2026 Conference

As a co-organiser, the National Training Fund (NVF) will participate in the SCI–PO 2026 conference, held on 23 June in Prague. In a dedicated session, our analysts will present data and insights regarding talent development, barriers to excellence, and the internationali­sation of higher education institutions.

The conference, subtitled „People for the Future of Research and Innovation“, focuses on the development of human capital in the field of research and development (R&D) in the Czech Republic. The event is jointly organized by the Technology Centre Prague, the National Training Fund (NVF), CERGE-EI, the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Centre of Administration and Operations of the CAS, and Palacký University Olomouc.

NVF experts Miroslava Kopicová, Zdeňka Matoušková, and Zdeňka Šímová will speak in a dedicated session. Their presentations will focus on three key areas:

  • The need for talent in science and research and their preparation

  • Internationali­sation of higher education institutions – a path to quality

  • Barriers to scientific excellence in the Czech Republic

The session will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by PhDr. Miroslava Kopicová, Director of NVF, featuring leading R&D experts:

  • Doc. Ladislav Janíček, Ph.D. – Brno University of Technology (BUT)

  • Prof. Vladimír Mařík, DrSc. – Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics, Czech Technical University (CTU-CIIRC)

  • Prof. Zdeněk Strakoš, DrSc. – Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University (MFF UK)

  • PhDr. Lucie Núñez Tayupanta, Ph.D. – Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), Director of the R&D Department
