SKILLS-CLOSE: The relationships between skills, schooling and labor market outcomes: A longitudinal study

Comprehensive research project funded by Czech Science Foundation aimed on formation of skills and their relationship to labor market outcomes, as well as to evidence on skill creation and its impact in the Czech Republic.

Three partner teams of researchers cooperate:

  • Economics Institute- EI (Národohospodářský ústav Akade Foundation aimed on formation of skills and their relationship to labor market outcomes, as well as to evidence on skill creation and its impact in the Czech Republic.

  • Economics Institute- EI (Národohospodářský ústav Akademie věd České republiky, NHÚ)
  • Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague (Pedagogická fakulta Univerzity Karlovy – PedF)
  • National Training Fund – NTF (Národní vzdělávací fond, o.p.s. – NVF).

In this project, National Training Fund will primarily focus on the skills of the adult population and their role in the labor market. Is is responsible for the part “Effects of skills on earnings and other labor market outcomes of adults”. The main data-set used for the analysis will be PIAAC and its national follow-up and additional data.

The analysis will be focused on comparison of Czech Republic with other countries for adult population as a whole and sub-populations by gender, age and position in the labour market. The field of education will be analysed with focus on distinction between generic and occupation-specific skills.
